Trailing 2-0 after the first, Pacifica climbed back to take the lead with a two-run third to win in the elimination bracket quarterfinals against Redwood City at Red Morton Park.
Pacifica set the table in the third with walks to Angelo Vinje and Sean Hagemann. Vinje late scored on a throwing error by the catcher to tie it 2-all, and Matthew Harp drew a bases-loaded walk to force home Hagemann with the go-ahead run.
Starting pitcher Sean Basanez earned the win, allowing two runs on three hits through five innings of work. Basanez navigated six walks and a hit batsman, while striking out two. William Gatley closed it out with two scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk.
Declan McLaughlin took the loss for RWC despite through 2 1/3 hitless innings. McLaughlin gave up three runs while walking four and hitting two batters, while striking out three. Ewan Minitti threw 3 2/3 innings of relief, allowing one run on four hits.
Pacifica got a single and an RBI from Uzziah Hermosillo. RWC’s Lachlan Morello led all batters with two hits, including a double and two RBIs.
Pacifica now advances to Wednesday’s elimination-bracket semifinals to face rival Half Moon Bay.
