Veer Gehani went 3 for 3 with a home run, and Foster City stayed alive in the elimination bracket against San Carlos at Middlefield Ballpark. San Carlos jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first on a two-run homer to center by Alex Cha, but Foster City powered up with three runs in the second and led the rest of the way.
In the third, Ryunosuke Fujimoto and Skylar Ide led off with back-to-back doubles to get Foster City on the board, then Gehani singled to score Ide on an outfield error to tie it 2-all. Gehani then scored on a passed ball to make it a 3-2 lead. Foster City went on to score in every inning from there, highlighted by Gehani’s solo homer to center in the fourth.
Fujimoto earned the win, allowing two runs on three hits, a walk and a hit batter over 3 1/3 innings, while striking out five. Olivver Xia then entered in relief to fire 2 2/3 scoreless innings to nail down the save. Bentley Hird and Girffin Lucia pitched for San Carlos.
Fujimoto added two hits with a double and an RBI for Foster City, while Xia, and William Skubal also drove in runs. San Carlos totaled three hits, with singles from Lucia and Evan Zalabak.
Foster City now advances through the elimination bracket to play Wednesday against Menlo-Atherton.
