Editor,
I am writing to the eight writers of Jan. 13’s letter about older people expecting that younger people will, and have to, “fix” the issue of what should be called the Climate Catastrophe.
Partly cloudy skies this evening. Increasing clouds with periods of showers late. Low 52F. Winds SW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 60%..

Editor,
I am writing to the eight writers of Jan. 13’s letter about older people expecting that younger people will, and have to, “fix” the issue of what should be called the Climate Catastrophe.
Bill McKibben, author and college professor, who started 350.org, the biggest climate action group in the United States, started Third Act two years ago for people 60 and above to support the younger people who are so rightly upset about the lack of support and action for the climate emergency. We now have 70,000 members; all of us and so many others are working as hard as we can to support/attend the Feb. 6-8 nonviolent, civil disobedience sit-in to block the entrance to the Department of Energy in Washington, D.C., to pressure the head of the Department of Energy, Jennifer Granholm, not to grant the permits for 12 and more Liquefied Natural Gas export terminals to ship liquified natural gas out of the United States. If our DOE allows the permits, the damage LNG will do to our climate emergency efforts will wipe out all the good we have done since 2005. Many other national groups are involved in this now.
We elders care about you and your futures. Many are parents and grandparents. Keep working with Citizens Climate Lobby, 350.org and other groups. Don’t let people get away with brushing off the climate catastrophe; push back and educate them. Write to Jennifer Granholm, President Biden, your U.S. senators and representatives; speak forcefully.

Thanks, Judy. Have a great day!
Listen Judy - the USA is exporting LNG to meet worldwide demand and earns a lot of dough doing it. If we were to stop these exports, other countries will fill the void including our friends in Russia. Clearly, the rest of the world is still depending on clean burning natural gas for its heating and chemical properties while you are stuck with your non-functioning EV on the East Coast because of the weather. Fortunately, there are only 70,000 of you while the millions of other seniors are content with the existing, reliable energy choices that our country has to offer. While the current DOE Secretary is woefully incompetent, she knows one thing; in the Biden Administration one does not need to walk the talk.
Ms. Kirk, perhaps you could begin some of your education on COP climate conference attendees who took over 400 private planes to the conference, or on Al Gore or John Kerry who continually fly around the world to, of all things, lecture us on global emissions while they pollute to their hearts’ desires. Or perhaps you could tell us what your 70,000 members are doing to actively reduce carbon emissions and whether they’re making any impact. Remember, talking the talk, or speaking forcefully, but not walking the walk doesn’t reduce emissions. BTW, for a good laugh, read about Granholm’s EV road trip where one of her aides blocked an EV charging station (with a gas-powered car if I remember correctly) so Granholm could charge her EV at her convenience (which if even a hybrid, she could have gassed up in 5 minutes and be on her way).
A weirdly veiled ad for 350.org. Written by an obvious moral hypocrite. Hey Judy - you don't get to lecture us about monetary issues being from some parasitic nonprofit. You people are legit the most disingenuous folks on planet earth. The most horrible people I met on Maui were from FEMA and the RED X. Yea - you can keep your nonsense to yourself. Way to try to piggyback on a pathetic "youth" article to send views and clicks your way. You know nothing of real Civil Disobedience and what Thoreau really meant. You ilk could not last 10 pages of Walden Pond. LOL - Thoreau espouses every single thing you people dont. Dont try to hijack real patriot rhetoric for goofy liberal causes that only seek to subjugate everyone and consolidate power - reduce cheap energy - and make people freeze and starve. Put me on a podium with any of you "climate" goofs - give me that corpse John Kerry who says "humans" are the problem because they eat too much. You are certainly not the proper elders to guide the youth. You should stop talking and go pass out fliers for your goofy 501C3 organization.
