Editor,

Just in. The report on the blowout at a natural gas storage facility in Los Angeles in 2015 was the largest release of climate changing methane in U.S. history. It underscores the screaming need to kick the fossil fuel habit once and for all. While chalked up to corporate laziness and stupidity, it serves as poster porno in exhibiting our short sighted persistence in thinking natural gas still has a place in our future. The solutions are coming fast and furious if only we can overcome the political power of the carbon fuel industry and its political allies that won’t see past the next quarter or the next campaign contribution.

Mr. Caggiano, shouldn’t you and kids who believe in this hoax be living it up for the next 12 years? According to those geniuses, Ocasio-Cortex and Crazy Bernie, the world will end in 12 years. You should already feel quite lucky, since you’ve lived 3 years past Al Gore’s inconvenient truth of the end of the world in 2016. Maybe you could set an example of life without fossil fuels, at least for the next 12 years because after that, well you know... I’ll let you keep your house and car even though they were manufactured with the use of fossil fuels, but no more gas or electricity for you! Looking forward to regular updates on how you’ve stopped using fossil fuels or products manufactured with using fossil fuels.

Terence Why: When we compare languages, we find that certain words in some languages, are missing in others. A foreign language I am fluent in, has a unique word “skamvett”, - which means to have sufficient intelligence to be ashamed of yourself. Clearly, Trump doesn’t have “skamvett”, and like a bewildered supporter, you keep proving ad nauseam, that you don’t either.

Hey, it’s my buddy, Jorg! It’s nice to know that you still only write personal attacks, but nothing of substance. If you’re a supporter of global warming, maybe you can get together with Mr. Caggiano in his whine cellar and collaborate on living life without fossil fuels – so Mr. Caggiano won’t be alone. By the way, China and India are building much more coal plants and they will soon surpass the capacity in the U.S., so maybe you both can convince them to give up their use of fossil fuels, while you keep us updated on your progress.

Suicide rates have been rising in nearly every state, according to the latest Vital Signs report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In 2016, nearly 45,000 Americans age 10 or older died by suicide. Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death and is one of just three leading causes that are on the rise.

Mike, nice try. The gas leak was a catastrophe indeed but by blaming the fuel source for this disaster is similar to banning all knives because one idiot in Japan decided to attack school children with a knife. Most gas companies, including PG&E, maintain underground storage in wells that were depleted. Most are responsible managers, excluding PG&E and SoCal Gas of course, but let's not blame fossil fuel use for their negligence.
As far as Jorg's comment we ought to listen to the weekend student author and attribute his uttering to his right under the First Amendment. This amendment does not specify that one has to make sense but one is free to marginalize himself.
