Editor,

Each day that we open Google, there is a reminder of people and events that have been a part of the American fabric. What did we view this morning, Dec. 7? “Happy Holidays.” Where was “Pearl Harbor Day?” Nice going, Google.

Thanks for your letter, Mr. Simoni. I guess the attack on Pearl Harbor, at least at Google, is no longer “a date which will live in infamy” or perhaps Google folks responsible for the page forgot to do a Google search for “what happened on December 7” and see Google’s featured snippet on Pearl Harbor being bombed (hard to miss, unless on purpose). Or perhaps Pearl Harbor is considered to be too controversial and “dark”? I am interested in seeing whether Google shows “Merry Christmas” or if we’ll get a “Happy 25th of December” or again be stuck with “Happy Holidays.” Merry Christmas!
