Editor,
In the Orwellian world of Donald Trump, where factual reporting is “fake news,” global warming is “weather,” Ukraine is “the aggressor” and an unstable buffoon is “a stable genius,” our current Middle East crisis comes as no surprise.
After two years of negotiations, the Iranian nuclear deal was signed in 2015 by China, France, Russia, the U.K. and the U.S. — as well as Germany and the European Union. Iran “significantly reduced its nuclear program and accepted strict monitoring and verification safeguards to ensure its program is solely for peaceful purposes,” the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation said.
In 2018, Trump pulled out of Obama’s hard-won agreement thanks to petty jealousy, calling the best deal ever “the worst deal ever” and now we’re paying the price. Iran began refining its uranium stockpile to near-weapons-grade levels but thanks to the Defense Analysis Agency and our vigilant press, and despite the administration’s massive disinformation campaign, it appears that Trump’s recent failure to “demolish” Iran’s enrichment program has merely slowed it down by a few months.
It’s also no surprise that Trump, like the arsonist who claims credit for dousing the fire he started, expects a Nobel Peace Prize.

No surprise…the latest Democrat talking point update from Mr. Brenner with old, and debunked claims. Thanks, Mr. Brenner, for the simplistic view of the Iran nuclear deal which allowed Iran to continue enriching uranium to weapons level while also having their money freed up thanks to Obama’s hard-won agreement.
As for a Nobel Peace Prize, the Nobel Foundation cheapened the importance of the Peace Prize when they gifted it to Obama. Not only was Obama known as the deporter-in-chief, wasn’t Obama also known as the global weapons-seller-in-chief? Wait, was Obama doing the peace through strength thing? Like Trump? By that comparison Trump should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. But the Foundation folks will probably gift their Peace Prize to Hamas or Zelensky or Putin.
Irv: The best excuse I can come up with for Trump, is that he has absolutely no idea what he is doing., - which would be right in line with his lack of education, insight and understanding of just about anything.
The worst I can say about Trump, is that he knows exactly what he is doing, and that he fully intends to mess things up royally and take the country off the proverbial cliff. Perhaps that’s what Putin wants him to do, to prevent the disclosure of some very embarrassing video Putin secured many years ago?
