Although your article “2 vie for District 15 congressional seat” in the Feb. 24 edition of the Daily Journal shows how the two candidates disagree on domestic policies and philosophies of governance, it would appear that both incumbent Kevin Mullin and Republican challenger Anna Cheng Kramer do agree on one thing. No cease-fire in Gaza.
Both capitulate when asked, explaining their concern for innocent loss of life. To their point, with more than 30,000 killed (likely an under-count) and even more injured, with little if any housing or food or water for the entire population. It would be truly evil to lack any concern for innocent loss of life happening in Gaza today.
But while Anna’s website states that her opponent is calling for a cease-fire, I see no evidence that Kevin has ever called for a cease-fire. Kevin is staunchly in support of President Biden’s ongoing oversight of the siege of Gaza, as he “echoes” the president in calling for a “humanitarian pause.” A permanent cease-fire would be much more helpful for the human beings suffering in Gaza than a temporary pause.
When I was in Hebrew school, I learned that genocide is wrong.

I never thought I would grow up to see my own government funding a genocide.
It’s disappointing to see the local politicians pretending to care while overtly supporting policy to the contrary.
I wrote in “CEASEFIRE NOW” on my ballot for U.S. House of Representatives. Neither of these politicians has earned my vote. Hopefully someone better will run in two years.

Question for you Matthew. Was bombing Germany during WWII by the Americans and the British committing genocide?
