Editor,

The March 18 article, “San Mateo weighs adoption of new e-scooters” reads: “How soon a fleet of electric scooters can be introduced to San Mateo streets.” The article needs to be corrected to say instead, “to San Mateo sidewalks.”

I think the answer is safer streets, better bike lanes, and education for drivers on how to interact with alternative transit. People dont want to ride on sidewalks but they do because there are multi-ton death machines with bad drivers moving around along with garbage streets. Ride from Foster City to San Mateo & you will see how poor SM streets are. Fix the streets. Make it safer to be on the street.

Needing safer streets is a far reach for the deplorable behavior of those who DO ride scooters on sidewalks.
