Editor,

Leo Bigley's letter ("Liberals are dumb" in the Dec. 2 edition of the Daily Journal) must have arrived on a "slow news day" because you gave his rant quite a bit of space. I'm really feeling very sad for Leo. Narrowmindedness is a chronic disease that's not easily understood. It appears one of the first symptoms is to write rambling letters to the editor. If all liberals "panhandled," as he suggests, then every corner in every city would be crowded. Compassion, social justice, and just plain caring about co-inhabitants of earth is a good thing. Mr. Bigley must be a bitter person to spew such vitriol. As a first step to recovery I suggest that he may want to daily exercise his face by smiling at passers-by or even just the clerk at the store. He'd find life improving immediately.
