Editor,

I'd like to thank Jon Mays for his Dec. 13 Daily Journal article, "Getting on the Same Track." He is absolutely correct that there is a disconnect between the general population and what the City Council and Bay Meadows developers are planning in San Mateo over the next few years. Densities of up to 75 units/acre are unheard of in San Mateo and while we all agree that affordable housing is a laudable goal, it should NOT be accomplished on the backs of those in the Hayward Park, 19th Avenue/Park Avenue and Fiesta Gardens neighborhoods. Let Jack Matthews or any of the other City Council members put 75 units/acre next to their houses if they feel so magnanimous about the housing shortage.
