I am not surprised. After all, one of the Desperate Housewives is having sex with a teenager and it's made to seem OK. The Chronicle, as of today, hasn't had a word about the Redwood City case. Wasn't there a San Francisco woman teacher caught with a kid in a car? What happened to that story? However, there seems to be little outrage over teacher sex abuse, no matter what the gender.
Compare it to the church sex scandal. I have my theory and it doesn't involve sexism, homophobia or Cathophobia.
I think computer "templating" and lack of national news competition since UPI went into a coma are the main factors. Also, that the church has deep pockets and it is hard to sue a school district. Ask SNAP's lawyers.
