Why is it that cities always want to knock down perfectly good buildings?
Case in point: South San Francisco, Municipal Services Building. I have lived in South San Francisco for 59 years and, for the last 40 or so, have enjoyed classes at the MSB. From yoga to hula, and everything in between, the MSB has been convenient for me and has the bonus of underground parking. The idea of tearing it down for housing is repulsive. Don’t we have enough traffic around El Camino Real?
I don’t understand why the new glass building has replaced the Orange Avenue Library and the MSB making too many events and not enough parking. What were they thinking? I am no longer comfortable taking classes where I must arrive a half hour early to hopefully get a place to park. I’m not comfortable walking across ECR with speeding cars with inattentive drivers.
The MSB would be perfect for senior activities as our population is getting older and there are more of us that would like to have a place to go that isn’t as far as Magnolia.
Also, the MSB is perfect for expanding the existing fire department rather than building a new one across the street. It doesn’t make any sense. Let’s save some money and keep what we have.
