I’m responding to Brooke Hanshaw’s Student News column “What I’ve learned from journalism” from the Saturday, April 27, edition of the San Mateo Daily Journal. In her column, Brooke shares her experiences of learning the craft of journalism and how those experiences have taught her valuable lessons and insight.
I wish you encouragement Brooke if you decide to pursue a career in journalism. We are living in a dark period here in America with an autocrat masquerading as a president, who calls journalists “The enemy of the people!” Stay firm in your beliefs and don’t be intimidated by a bully.
Nice try with disseminating Fake News, Mr. Gonzalez. An appropriate first name, since you’re taking lying to an Art. Our great President Trump refers to the Fake News and dishonest media as the enemy of the people, not all journalists. You should have stopped after writing the first paragraph instead of inserting your biases and hatred. If Ms. Hanshaw does pursue a career in journalism, let’s hope she steers clear of Fake News and dishonesty in her reporting.
