While I realize that there are many nonbelievers who read the Daily Journal, the recent assassination attempt on Trump reminds me of a passage in St. Matthew’s Passion in which the question is asked what exactly Jesus Christ did wrong to deserve his crucifixion. According to St. Matthew, Jesus had done nothing but good, he restored sight to the blind, he cured the lame, he taught his father’s lessons, he banished the devil, he consoled the bereaved, he forgave the sinners, and questioned the High Priest swamp. He died a horrible death for those deeds.
Now, Trump is no saint, but please tell me what exactly he has done to deserve the wrath of this country? He closed the border, brought inflation under control, established enterprise zones in several inner cities, eliminated hundreds of superfluous regulations, made our nation energy independent, reduced our taxation, established dialogue with Chinese, Russian and North Korean leaders, made NATO members pay their agreed share, arranged for a beneficial trade agreement with Canada and Mexico, set the stage for long term peace in the Middle East, and did not engage in any foreign conflicts. Trump may not have been liked by many, and may have not have been in sync with the opposing party, but he did command respect in the world. For that, he is now an assassination target?
Biden’s campaign needs to retrench without the rancor that has set off the lunatics on the left.
How do we know the assassin was a leftist? Regardless, go and ask most women and LGBTQ people and any American who believes no one is above the law and rejects dictatorship what exactly is wrong about Trump.
