Peace among nations is a fine ideal, so far never achieved for long in the history of humankind. For example, in the Hamas Covenant, writer Thiel will discover, clearly stated, that “Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.” That is an unequivocal statement that Hamas is waging a theological war of annihilation against Israel.
Ghazi Hamad of the Hamas political bureau told LBC TV (Lebanon, Oct. 24, 2023) that Hamas is prepared to repeat Oct. 7 “until Israel is annihilated.” That is another clear call for genocide against Israel.
According to a Wall Street Journal article, messages the Hamas military leader in Gaza has sent to mediators show a calculation that more fighting — and more Palestinian civilian deaths —work to his advantage. That’s right, Hamas uses civilian casualties a tactic to turn the world against Israel’s existential self-defense.
Hamas intentionally disrespected and misused international aid and did not try to build a peaceful, prosperous society. Choosing war, Hamas built an underground war machine with tunnels opening into homes, mosques and schools, thereby turning those locations into legitimate military targets according to international law. In Israel’s north and south, entire communities of peaceful families were displaced when their homes were purposefully attacked, which is a war crime.
Lastly, recall please, Ms. Thiel, that Hamas chose to violate a ceasefire on Oct. 7. Israel did not start the war that it must fight to avoid annihilation. That is the very definition of self-defense.

Julia - I agree that Israel has the right of self defense. The problem is that Hamas is still there even after all of the incredible destruction and lives lost in the Gaza. The continued bombing and killing has not served its intended purpose. Israel is not going to resolve this with its current strategy and will only isolate itself from the rest of the world. I am pro-Israel but there must be a better way to eradicate Hamas. It may mean a funding and a bribing tactic, as money talks. I cannot look away when seeing these hordes of children begging for food at these horrific distribution centers. There are factions within the Gaza that steal the food from these kids as well. Others shoot recipients because the food is being distributed by the joint Israeli/America aid organizations. There is total, inhuman mayhem and must be stopped one way or another.
