I find this whole affair one-sided, ("CSM professor investigated for 'anti-Semitic' remarks" in the Feb. 11 edition of the Daily Journal.) There have been many equations between Arafat and Hitler, Hamas' terror and the Holocaust. To date, I have not heard of a single retraction, apology, or outcry over the remarks. In Israel, noted historian Benny Morris said that he wished that Ben-Gurion had expelled ALL the Palestinians between the Mediterranean and the Jordan River, and went on to describe the Palestinians as "barbarians" and needed to be locked up in a "cage." There was no furor, no condemnation.
While one is free to argue the merits of such a comparison, calling the comparison anti-Semitic is slanderous and stupid. Paul Kaufman, A Jewish MP in Britain, commented "Sharon has made the Star of David look like the Swastika of Hitler." Another British-Jewish MP and member of the Jewish Council for Racial Equality in Britain, Oona King, said that "Gaza is the same in nature as the Warsaw Ghetto." She also said that "as a Jew, I hoped I would never live to see the day I was ashamed of the actions of the Jewish state." Alfred Lilenthal, a Jewish Anti-Zionist, has a chapter in his book, The Zionist Connection, entitled Israel Uber Alles.
The Anti-Defamation League, in true Orwellian fashion, does nothing BUT defame and slander people who dare to voice an opinion they don't like. They spy, harass and intimidate people, stifling freedom of discussion and dissent.
Why is it that the comparison between one odious and horrific affair and another causes so much controversy, while the affair itself causes almost none?
