Editor,

I wish to correct some information provided in a letter published on Sept. 5 regarding the Harris nomination (headed under “US legacy”).

Well Mr/Mrs Comito - nice spin for Harris. She did not get a nomination from her delegates. Ray Fowler already showed that she had zero votes in the last primary. When Biden was removed from the ticket, the Democrat Party had a choice to either pick the next runner up of the primary or call for a new election. Neither happened. And, as a typical provincial American, you are not familiar with the foreign press. It is truly wondering how someone like Harris comes out of nowhere and becomes the nominee.

Rel

Dirk, it is called the Democratic party. Most people don't use Republic party in contrast, so show some education. Harris is the nominee. Get over it. She did not come out of nowhere. She has been in plain sight as our VP. Get prepared as she will defeat Trump.

Terence Y

Rel, speaking of showing some education…how about brushing up on the fact Obama put kids in cages and Pelosi accepted responsibility for her dereliction of duty in protecting the Capitol from your insurrection? Get over it. Please stop lying about the little things…and the big things.

LittleFoot

Kamala entered politics being Willie Brown's concubine. She is the very definition of "who do I have to sleep with the get ahead here"

Rel

Nice double standard LittleFoot. When was the last time you accused Trump or any male for sleeping with someone to get ahead?

Dirk van Ulden

Yes Rel - "She has been in plain sight as our VP" as probably the most invisible and inconsequential VP ever. I understand that the Democratic Party will even nominate a potted plant if it cannot find anyone else who will do Obama's bidding.

Rel

Yes Dirk, most Democrats would rather vote for a potted plant than Trump. It would far less damage.

Rel

Dirk, the facts are also undeniable Trump should be nowhere near our nuclear codes nor deciding on the important issues of the day. While he was in office, we observed the daily tweets; the constant churning of his administration of people quitting or being indicted while all around saying the WH was constantly in chaos; the losing of the war on a virus by ignoring it causing the loss of millions of lives; and the ballooning of the budget unmatched in history. Despite having total power in the executive and Congressional halls, there were no new healthcare plans; no new infrastructure; and no new Wall paid by Mexicans. It was also well observed the economy was heading to a recession PRIOR to the pandemic. Plus, the nation was more divisive than ever before. Only cultists would say our nation under Trump as a convicted sexual predictor; a twice impeached conman; a constant liar; and a person so mentally flawed we have not set the bar low enough to tolerate his behavior would be worth repeating.

Terence Y

And yet, Rel, despite all your alleged misdeeds by our great President Trump, Trump still Made America Great Again. Now look at what’s happened since then. Oh, right, you’re not allowed to look back or speak of treasonous Biden, his crime family and Biden/Harris’s America Last policies. Hey Rel, did you know Obama put kids in cages? I’m surprised you’re not outraged at that?

Not So Common

Dirk, cackling Kamala actually came out of Punxsutwaney Jorg's hole when Jorg saw his shadow. That's considered democratic by Mr. Comito, Rel and the rest of the Jorgidian cult.

Rel

Ha Ha NSC. I have been voting since the days of JFK and this is the first time anyone accused me of being a member of a cult. You know what is cultish? 45% of the voters supporting Trump irrespective of his record, his character, or his lack of policies.

Dirk van Ulden

No accusation Rel. - it is a fact. You would vote for a potted plant and you may get your wish. Only a cultist would deny Trump's record on the state of our country during his presidency, no wars, no inflation, high employment, world stability, and the fact that only he has submitted viable plans to get this country back to where it should be. Only ignoramuses and those savoring inflicting pain on themselves would vote for your potted plant.

Not So Common

Dirk, one of my favorite terms, ignoramuses. An apt, spot on description of the Jorgidian cult followers.... The thing about ignoramuses like Rel, they never provide facts to back things up and when they do attempt to use facts, the pretzel fact maker makes little sense, is a complete lie or twisted and emotional ...

Wow, such relentless hateful and often misleading posts from right wingers on the DJ letters pages. Whether organized or not, they seem to have ambushed the letters pages to shut out any more reasonable views. They do not represent the majority opinion in this area and it's a shame they can dominate the letters pages.

Ray Fowler

Hello, Tim

As Joe Biden garnered about 80% of the votes cast in our county in 2020, I agree that the majority opinion in this area absolutely leans left. If you feel the other side of the aisle is trying to shut out viewpoints you support, you can pick a topic, state a position, toss in some research and post. I have found that to be the best way to counter what I consider to be a point of view that is hateful and misleading.

Dirk van Ulden

OK Daddy Tim - mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. Boohoo, we have been picking on your candidate now for a few weeks. We have been unreasonable? Have you even read the DJ for the last three years? Nothing but praise for Biden/Harris and nothing but outright ridicule and despicable comments about Trump. Yes, you and I live in a fiercely Blue neighborhood which is subsidized by the Red side of our society. No ambush here, just the facts, sir! We do not hate and we are still allowed to disagree, but not if the current DOJ has its way.

Westy

I agree, Tim. Relentless, hateful, misogynistic, a whole lot of dog-whistle racism, generally fact-free, and very repetitive. It probably discourages real comments and throughtful exchanges.

Dirk van Ulden

Westy - congratulations. You are now an official member of the Broken-Record -Club.

Terence Y

Thanks for your comment, Mr. Strinden. I like your sense of humor. As Mr. Fowler and Mr. van Ulden have stated in their comments, pick a topic, state a position, toss in some research and post, and answer honestly whether you’ve read the DJ for the last three years, or just last week. There are plenty of hateful and misleading posts, including downright lies, from left and especially rabid left wingers on the DJ. But you are correct that posts from right wingers don’t represent the majority opinion – because as Mr. van Ulden astutely notes, we live in a fiercely blue neighborhood.

Perhaps you and Westy are overestimating the effect from right wingers, perhaps the other side is not able to convey or respond to reasonable views, real comments, or thoughtful exchanges. That sounds more believable to me. Again have you read the DJ for the last three years, or just last week?

Not So Common

Timmy, have you found Lassie? Please let us know what is reasonable so we "right wingers" can learn.
