Editor,
The Jan. 22 letter responding to U.S. Rep. Kevin Mullin’s guest perspective on the state of our nation’s current government was honest and neither inflammatory nor disuniting as the reader Grace Xuereb attested.
Our House, Senate and President Trump lead our 50 states, territories and overseas Americans. Federal law rules our lives and our leaders in Washington, D.C., are accountable to all of us for the laws they create and enforce.
When our president asserts that the Gulf of Mexico will be changed to the “Gulf of America” is that extreme wishful thinking or a fascist wish? Or funnier yet, making Canada the 51st U.S. state and seizing Denmark’s autonomous territory, Greenland?
Mullin is on point to enlighten his readers that extremism transcends the basic, reasonable thinking in our nation’s Capitol. We need checks and balance in government, and leaders like Rep. Mullin do speak from his heart and experience.
With the “extreme” nature of Trump’s batch of executive orders, like pardoning 1,500 seditionists who incited violence and crimes against our government, Rep. Mullin’s perspective and insight were truthful, neither divisive nor hollow.
Xuereb recommends a thesaurus for Mullin to substitute the word “extreme” she states Mullin “constantly” used in that guest perspective. I disagree. The writer needs better reading glasses as I counted that word two times in Rep. Mullin’s honest, insightful and informative perspective.

China is currently building a major port in Chancay, Peru which could be converted into a Chinese military base anytime and threaten a blockade of the Panama Canal . Same for Greenland which Russia could seize in a day and hinder all our Naval operations in the north Atlantic.
But I'm not in favor of taking on Canada because it's a failed leftist country that would add more to our debt than benefit us.
Thanks, Fel, for reminding us of Mr. Mullin’s guest perspective where he talks out of both sides of his mouth. Mr. Mullin pens almost 700 words talking about balance and bipartisanship and yet with one adjective, “divisive,” completely undermines his perspective trying to sell bipartisanship. It appears Mr. Mullin only talks the talk about bipartisanship, but isn’t willing to walk the walk.
For example, perhaps, Fel, you can explain why Mr. Mullin voted Nay on initial passage of the Laken Riley Act? Is Mullin not interested in arresting and deporting illegal aliens for criminal offenses? Or should I say “more” criminal offenses since crossing the border illegally is already a crime? And perhaps you can explain why Mr. Mullin was on the wrong side of every vote for the Laken Riley Act. Sorry, but it’s difficult to support someone who would rather put the interests of invaders to our country over that of American citizens. Mr. Mullin’s extremism is a disgrace and if you consider Mullin’s actions to be an example of basic, reasonable thinking then it sounds like you should be taking courses in doing research. Use better reading glasses so you don’t miss the stuff that debunks your perspective. As for the Gulf of America, I hear Google will soon update Google Maps.
