Editor,

On March 4, San Carlos residents filled the City Hall meeting room to express their concerns to the Planning Commission about fire risk, traffic congestion and flooding posed by the proposed Black Mountain development. Unfortunately, none of these concerns were subsequently addressed by the mayor’s State of the City address, the proposed construction of 68 townhouses in a steep wooded canyon with only one exit poses the same risk as the residents of Paradise faced to their peril.

Paradise? That is raw fear mongering. I had a project burn in Paradise and this is nothing like that city. I get the not in my backyard sentiment but to name drop Paradise like that is incredibly insensitive & uninformed as to what happened in Paradise. I'm really concerned that people minimize what happened in Paradise for NIMBY goals. Who lived in Paradise? People who were displaced from Sacramento & the Bay Area. How do we make sure that we don't build in remote places like Paradise? We build responsible projects like this project closer to services. Yes the people that live here are on a different income level than those in Paradise.
But those people are going to pay top dollar to maintain the environment. That is the point of buying up there. Further, adding inventory helps all the people down the line. The people that live in these homes will not displace someone closer to El Camino, who in turn will not displace someone closer to 101, who will in turn not displace someone in the East Bay, who will in turn not displace someone in Tracy, Sacramento, Woodland, Paradise etc.... Please don't use Paradise as some sort of Nimby tool. Paradise was a tragedy and we need to avoid such things in future by NOT pushing people out of our communities.

there is now bigger basket of idiots than in San Carlos. Given the chance to have the biggest innercity open space or 100 new condows, you idiots chose the condos. no right to complain. your property will loose value instead of gain. I am likely bailing from you fools. teach your children to vape as well.

Stop whining bout your own foolishness

In case you weren't around then, it was rejected for its extreme cost of almost $2000 for every man, woman, and child in San Carlos.
