I am thrilled Assemblymember Diane Papan, D-San Mateo, was at to COP28. Getting a greater sense of urgency to support the “big game changer,” clean energy bills: BIG WIRES (S. 2827) and Energy Innovation Act (EIA: cashback program for residents) is needed.
After she sees the science – that this is not “your Daddy’s Cadillac”/historical temperature cycle, I am confident she will understand our #1 assailant — carbon emissions. Her sense of adaptability for our needs is to be admired but how to stop the rapid rise in temperature must be louder, not only from a bottom up (community) but also a top-down approach, with legislation. Fastest way to handle the job is to reduce carbon emissions. Hopefully she can be more vocal and influence U.S. Rep. Kevin Mullin’s support for immediate solutions not just long-term technological ones.
Papan has done a tremendous job: securing $35 million for public safety, emergency preparedness, water reliability, petroleum clean up, housing equity, etc. She’s a powerhouse that our community/planet needs. Please support HR EIA-5744 and S. 2827 for timely solutions to reduce climate temperatures. You’re headed for the big time as long as you can breathe.
Jenn, so you’re okay with Papan flying all the way out to COP28, emitting loads of carbon, to talk to us about lowering our carbon emissions? Weren’t there about a dozen folks who flew out there to talk the talk about lowering carbon emissions but are obviously not walking the walk? Sorry, but I don’t imagine in any world where hypocrisy is a great motivator. Let’s hope Papan can resolve more important issues –every other issue not related to so-called global warming.

We used to call that "cheap thrills". Apparently it does not take much to fool you,. These two bills do not help with the reduction of carbon emission at all and have already been debunked and deemed economically under water. Our #1 threat is not carbon emissions but the blowhards who wasted millions of dollars telling us how to live while they luxuriate. Ms. Papan is one of those spending precious tax dollars attending a pointless conference that clearly did not produce any tangible results.
