Special Council Hur was wrong, and so are some of your readers.
Like President Biden, I am in my 80s. And, like him, I have lost a child when she was grown up.
As President Biden himself would have said, “Here’s the deal”:
I know exactly when my daughter Nancy was born: Jan. 5, 1963. But I do not remember the date of her death. Why would I want to remember that horrible day?

I have so many wonderful memories of her as a little girl, her lovely smile, her happy face when she was playing at the beach or at a playground with friends. I remember the toys she loved and how much she loved me!
She was a happy, loving child. That’s how I remember her — and always will.
I am sorry for your loss. However, Biden also did not remember the dates he was Vice President, according to the report. And reports now say that Biden himself brought up his son's death, the special counsel didn't just randomly ask about it. He often uses his son Beau's death to make a point, and frequently lies about Beau dying in Iraq when in fact he died of cancer years after returning. Releasing the transcripts of the questioning would clear up exactly what was said, why would the White House not want to do this?
Ms. Engelhardt, if that were Biden’s only mental issue, we could consider ourselves lucky. Unfortunately for us, Biden has many more gaffes which reinforce his lack of mental clarity. To wit, Biden calling the Egyptian President the president of Mexico, Biden confusing a European leader with a dead predecessor, confusing the French President with Mitterrand from Germany, oops, France, confusing the Hungarian Prime Minister as the leader of Turkey, shaking hands with invisible people, etc. to list a few.
Good try but Pres. Biden's cognitive impairment is recognized by too many people for it to be ignored. It's not just forgetting names, but this ability to hold and analyze a number of facts in his head at one time to analyze them. There are a number of short verbal tests used by neurologist such as the Montreal Cognitive Assessment test to assess one's cognitive ability. Biden should put the country before his political ambitions and take the test and disclose the results.

'If You Are Not a Liberal When You Are Young, You Have No Heart, and If You Are Not a Conservative When Old, You Have No Brain'
I’ve stayed liberal all my 78 years and make no apologies for it.
I’m fairly convinced my brain works, and apparently my colleagues, adversaries, clients, and friends think so too.
As usual, oversimplified generalizations are very far from wisdom.
