Editor,

This letter is in response to the article on the Managed Lanes traffic initiative (“Lane effort building its momentum”) that was published in the July 16 edition of the Daily Journal. It seems unreasonable to provide an ultimatum between express lanes or no project. Is this just a way to force more taxes onto residents?

If people want to pay more for a better commute I think we should let them. It seems that those willing to do so would no longer be competing with the people in the free lanes, thereby lessening traffic for the rest of us at no cost. I think it is a very honest way to increase funds for transportation and it is elective decision.
