Menlo Park and now Belmont ("City officially opposes Cargill development” in the March 24 edition of the Daily Journal). These are cities that have major issues that affect their constituents (budget deficits, mountain lions roaming free, cutting of emergency services), yet they all have time to enter someone else’s city and tell them what is best for them. The Belmont City Council passed the most far-reaching smoking ban that even the individual who complained agreed was more than he had expected. The other cities acted professionally and courteously by staying out of the fray, not an option for Belmont or Menlo Park in the Cargill debate. Given all the crying about being financially strapped, I would think they have enough on their plate so that they could get their house in order and not worry about other cities. Let the Redwood City Council and residents decide what is best for their city and stay out of their house.
