In September, I started teaching eighth grade history to more than 90 students each day. This is my first year as a teacher.

My road to the classroom was actually paved by my mother, a dedicated educator for 40 years. Witnessing the challenges and rewards of her profession firsthand, I gravitated to serving our youth.

Thank you for your letter, Ms. Schneidau, relating your experience and successes. Unfortunately, not everyone has taken the same path as yourself (maybe they should) and it must be noted that more money does not equate to student achievement, especially in CA. Perhaps your letter will spur the powers-that-be that the SSC Learning Network is deserving of more funds to expand. I wish you luck in your teaching career as it sounds like you’re making a difference.

Instead of mentioning scaling back, shouldn't the emphasis be on returning to STEM basics and dump all of these useless ethnic studies that you could not earn one a dime upon graduation. Also, these studies have only caused more polarization and reverse discrimination. She is on the right track and I value her commitment.
