The charges need to be dropped. The police need to be ashamed and re-trained for medical reactions. I am a parent of now adult insulin-dependent children and have seen these reactions many times. They are incapable of comprehending any directives.
I have had high school principals - 'request that we get this under control' after I threatened to sue them for not informing my freshman daughter's teachers that she was diabetic one month into the school year after an insulin reaction had her falling from her chair in convulsions. The grade school nurse 'just happened' to be in the hallway and knew her and came to her aid. One other time she kicked another girl that 'bumped' into her and then ran out of the building 3 blocks away. Totally irrational behavior.
Doug is a brittle diabetic trying for tight control of his blood sugar and insulin reactions like this are part of this disease.
It's a disease, not a crime.
