In the middle of a crowded room during a Lunar New Year party at Google stood the prototype of a self-driving car.

My fourth grade self stared in awe at the vehicle. My friend remarked how she hoped that by the time she had to learn how to drive, self-driving cars would be the norm and she wouldn’t even need to learn. I, too, secretly wished for the same. That the tall tales of teenage car crashes I was fed all my life would never happen to me.

Thanks for your column! Lots to consider when it comes to AVs. My hope is that, perhaps, they can become the link between public transportation (trains, busses, and light rails) and that "last mile."

Not So Common

There is a segment of society who should not be behind the wheel of a 4,000 automobile and should be forced to use self-driving technology.
