Wayne Dowling, born Feb. 4, 1942, in Vancouver, British Columbia, died May 20, 2011.
Wayne moved to Redwood City with his family in 1958, but continued throughout his adult life to retain an abiding love for his Canadian roots and heritage. Wayne was a resident of Redwood City for 53 years. He graduated from Sequoia High School in 1960 and went on to obtain a bachelor's of arts in psychology from California State University at Hayward. Wayne was an accomplished musician and had a particular ability to play the sax. Wayne had a good heart. In his work as a community friend for the Alliance for the Mentally Ill in San Mateo County, he helped many clients over the years and brightened their days by accompanying them in their everyday challenges.
"Wayne always focused on those moments of joy that life holds and in doing so Wayne touched many lives. His great sense of humor was a hallmark of his character. Wayne will be remembered for his love of family, friends and life."
