Stella McKay Leahy, born Sept. 20, 1916, to Stanley and Lillian McKay in Salem, Oregon, died naturally on Friday, Feb. 16, 2018. Stella was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 64 years, Edward J. Leahy. Stella and Ed resided in San Mateo since 1955 where they raised their children: Constance, Ed, Scott, Cynthia and Martin.
Throughout her life, Stella was a tireless volunteer with her volunteer activities beginning within the St. Gregory, Serra and Notre Dame High School communities. As her children grew, she furthered her efforts volunteering with the Mills-Peninsula Auxiliary, the Assistance League of San Mateo County, St. Bartholomew Church, Filoli and other philanthropic organizations.
Stella will be missed by many including her grandchildren: Alexandra (Sashka), Damian, Jessica, Travis Nicole, Rushton, Malcolm, Tom, Sam and Allison. The family would like to sincerely thank those that provided Stella with loving and patient care over the past several years.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 300 Alameda de las Pulgas, San Mateo, CA. Reception to follow.
