Robert J. Harrington died peacefully at home in Millbrae Nov. 7, 2014.
Bob, a native of San Francisco served as a Communications Radioman for the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Bob was employed with Continental Baking Company for 36 years and he retired in 1988. During that time he raised his family in his Millbrae home, a place filled with love and light and an abundance of Wonder Bread and Twinkies. An avid fan of both the San Francisco Giants and the San Francisco 49ers, Bob spent the remainder of his life relaxing, traveling and enjoying family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Shirley, in 2009. He is survived by his sisters, Dorothy Potts and Lorrayne Dhuyvetter; daughters, Linda (Randy) Calhoun and Gayle (Chris) Wilhelm, son Bud (Helene) Harrington; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A viewing will be 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14 at Chapel of the Highlands, 194 Millwood Drive, Millbrae followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Robert’s Catholic Church, 1380 Crystal Springs Road, San Bruno. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Veterans at Operation Mend (http://operationmend.ucla.edu).
