Mary Kroll, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on July 11, 2024. Born to Antonio and Antonia Abreu on July 26, 1936, in Funchal, Madeira Islands, Portugal, Mary grew up alongside her sibling, the late Manuel.
At the young age of 13, Mary journeyed with her family by ship to Ellis Island, New York. She later moved to San Francisco before finally making Millbrae her home in 1971. Mary graduated from San Francisco Mission High School in 1954.
Mary was passionate about gardening and cherished her family above all else. She leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication, honored by her devoted husband, Hank; her children, Rosie and Liza; her grandchildren, Princess, Vanessa, and Anthony; and her great-grandchildren, Paris, Julian, Santiago, and Victoria.
Mary’s life was a testament to love, kindness, and the joy of living. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the impact she had on those who knew her will continue to flourish, much like the gardens she tended to with such care.
Services to celebrate Mary’s life will be held privately on July 26, 2024, aboard the Empress Yacht on the San Francisco Bay where her ashes will be scattered beneath the Golden Gate Bridge.
