Charles-Andre Parker Cadet, passed away peacefully after a valiant battle with pneumonia at the age of 28, surrounded by his family in Antioch, California.
Born on September 7, 1996 at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, California to his parents Ron and the late Stephanie Cadet, Charles’ arrival brought joy and love to his family.
Charles was diagnosed at eight months old with Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS), a rare neurological disorder that profoundly shaped his life. Later, he was also diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Despite eventually being unable to walk or speak, he left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. His family, caregivers, medical providers, therapists, and educators were all touched by his radiant spirit. Charles had a unique way of communicating joy and light through his sparkling eyes and brilliant smile, speaking volumes without ever saying a word.
A true fighter, Charles lived with remarkable resilience for 28 years. Though he bravely confronted every challenge life presented, he ultimately succumbed to the overwhelming effects of pneumonia and other complications. His departure leaves a profound void in the lives of those who loved him.
Charles is preceded in death by his mother, Stephanie. He is survived by devoted parents, Ron, his father, and Chinhayi (“CeCe”), his stepmother; his siblings, Mia and RJ; his Grandparents Raymond and Maud Cadet, his Uncles, Rudy Cadet, Rick Cadet, Marc Cadet, Cedric Brown, and Geoffrey Brown, his Aunts, Marjorie Cadet, Cheryl Cadet, Meshell Cadet, Crystal Coleman, and Deborah Brown, his Godmother Andree-Maryse Duvalsaint, his loving caregiver Martha (“Tita”) Vega, and a host of loving cousins and friends.
The Cadet family takes comfort in the knowledge that Charles is now free of the burdens borne of his illness and reunited with his mother in heaven. His transition is accompanied by a sense of joy and liberation, a testament to the love and care that surrounded him throughout his life, and to the light of perseverance and gratitude that he shone upon us.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome Foundation in Charles’ memory.
