President Donald Trump has repeatedly railed against California’s governor as “Newscum,” spread misinformation about the causes of the Los Angeles fires and suggested that California will not receive the typical federal aid for recovery unless it changes its water policy. Or its forestry policy. Or its immigration sanctuary policy.

Friday morning, as he prepared to fly to the fire zone, he added a new one: voter ID.

Not So Common

Why should the federal government reimburse the State of CA for a fire that was caused by the California democrat party's malfeasance? California has $9.5 billion to spend on after school child care and free diapers but they can't pay for the damage caused by a fire that was preventable and foreseeable. Newsom and all democrats should own it and pay for it

Absolutely correct. These fires were preventable and foreseeable if these California Democrats weren't still so car centric. These fires were caused by California's Democrats insistence of car centric development. Almost to the day and 100 years ago did Los Angeles write the book on how to push pedestrians and cyclists off the road and more and more cars onto it. Back then they already knew, more cars lead to more air pollution. And more air pollution leads to bad health outcomes. At least 50 years ago, they found out, cars also increase GHG emissions. More GHG emissions led to more global warming, more global warming is leading to more wild fires. And California's and especially LA now - the city that dismantled it's public transportation system and swore fealty to Ford and GM - are paying the price. This was predicted for at least the last 50-60 years and still California Democrats really never changed their rotten ways. It turns out Karma is a ...

eGerd – TBot here. If California Dems were car-centric then don’t you think they would have felled trees and built roads into and throughout all the forests? If anything, car-centric development would lead to less catastrophic wildfires be lessening fuel. That being said, I do agree that California Dems haven’t changed their rotten ways. The bigger question is why Californians continue to vote in Dems. You get the government you deserve, as SoCal is currently experiencing.
