A stretch of El Camino Real in San Mateo will close temporarily next week as crews install a new sewer line for Central Park’s playground restroom, police said Tuesday.
In an advisory, the San Mateo Police Department said the contractor, Suarez and Munoz Construction Inc., will close El Camino Real between East Fifth Avenue and Ninth Avenue from Monday through Sept. 12. Work may occur during the day or at night.
The project will cause a closure of the northbound lanes and could lead to temporary congestion for both northbound and southbound motorists. Sidewalk access next to Central Park will also be closed, pedestrian detours will be in place, and some on-street parking will be unavailable.
“Please use caution while in the area, stay focused and abide by all posted signage,” police said.
Residents are advised that the work may also create dust and noise from construction vehicles and equipment.
