A fight that escalated into gunfire on the 600 block of Whipple Avenue in Redwood City Aug. 3 has led to the arrest of two brothers, according to police.
At about 5:11 p.m., Redwood City police responded to the location and learned two people involved went into a nearby business and initiated a fight with an employee. Co-workers came to the aid of the victim and were able to overpower the suspects. The suspects eventually drew a firearm and began chasing the victims while firing multiple shots at them. No one was struck by gunfire or seriously injured. The suspects fled the scene before the arrival of police who recovered bullet casings and other evidence that helped identify the suspects, Jaime Ontiverosalvarez, 25, and Raul Ontiverosalvarez, 27.
According to police, the violent engagement was the result of an ongoing dispute between the suspects and the victim. On Sept. 12, the Redwood City Police Department’s Street Crime Suppression Team, the Investigations Unit and the Special Response Team executed a search warrant on the 800 block of Palm Avenue in Redwood City and both were arrested, according to police.
A loaded firearm was found concealed on Raul Ontiverosalvarez during the arrest and detectives located additional ammunition and equipment related to firearms during the execution of the search warrant, according to police.
Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact the Redwood City Police Department’s nonemergency number at (650) 780-7100.
