The San Mateo Library will be holding a library card design contest to generate excitement and put the community’s creativity on display.
The theme this year is “My Library Card is a Ticket to Anywhere.” All submissions must be original and can use any medium including computer generated. Entries must be submitted to any San Mateo library by closing time Wednesday, April 30.
Only complete entries, including the photo/creative works release form and design template, will be reviewed for eligibility.
Online submissions are not accepted and the San Mateo Public Library reserves the right to reproduce your work. One entry per person.
The contest is open to San Mateo or Hillsborough residents but employees of San Mateo or Hillsborough cannot participate.

The categories are children up to age 12, with a prize of an artist set and California Art Supply gift card; teens ages 13-17, with three randomized Labubu figurines and California Art Supply gift card as prizes; and adult with a prize of a Kindle Paperwhite and California Art Supply gift card.
Winners will be notified in May.
All submissions will be on display at the San Mateo Public Library until May 31. Submissions not selected will be available for pickup at the Main Library until June 15. All submissions not picked up on this date will be recycled.
There will be an award reception at the San Mateo Main Library Wednesday, Sept. 3. September is “National Library Card Sign-Up” Month.
