A shoplifter at the Redwood City Target was sentenced to four years in prison with credit for 697 days served for threatening a loss prevention officer with pepper spray after loading up his cart with $820.70 worth of merchandise while on probation for another crime during which he was shot just months prior in 2023.

Jonathan Mackey, 28, of San Carlos, was on probation for stealing from Home Depot Monday, Aug. 7, in San Carlos after serving a six-month sentence in jail with 161 days credit, when he stole from the Target Dec. 7, 2023.
