The prosecution rested its case yesterday against Raul Campos, the second suspect tried for a San Bruno quadruple homicide, after playing a tape-recorded phone conversation between the defendant and his brother.
"There's a paper that says 'the plan,' something about $50,000," Campos told his brother, Roberto during the April 22, 2002 collect call.
Prosecutor Al Giannini played the phone call between Raul and Roberto Campos to establish that Campos was part of a conspiracy to collect a drug-related debt from Javier Vaca, 21.
Vaca and three other men, Jose Alberto Munoz-Lopez, 21, Emilio Alba-Flores, 20, and Roberto Ramos-Guerra, 18, were found dead in Vaca's San Bruno apartment almost three years ago.
According to trial witnesses, Vaca, an alleged drug dealer, fought with his alleged supplier Jorge "Chico" Hernandez over a debt Vaca allegedly owed.
Campos, now 20, was a few weeks shy of 18 when he accompanied Hernandez and two other men from Southern California to the Evergreen Ridge apartment complex San Bruno on Jan. 11, 2002.

The prosecution alleges that Campos and and his friend Alfredo Valenzuela, who was convicted earlier this year, helped Hernandez with his drug business. According to the prosecution's theory, the men went with Hernandez to commit a robbery and became involved in the killings.
While four men were allegedly involved in the killings, only Campos and Valenzuela, 24, were ever captured.
The men were arrested in Southern California in March of 2002, after investigators traced telephone calls from a cell phone found at the scene.
While Valenzuela claimed that he did not participate in or witness the shootings, Campos admitted shooting Alba-Flores. Giannini claims that Campos killed more than one of the victims.
Regardless of who pulled the trigger, under the law, Campos could be held responsible for four murders.
According to evidence presented at trial, three of the victims were bound with zip-ties and shot in the head. Alba-Flores was not shot in the head but was shot several times, including in his back and buttocks, with different guns. At least four separate guns were used in the crimes.
