The San Mateo Police Department is asking the public to help identify a suspect involved in a sexual assault the evening of Dec. 26 on the Third Avenue overpass of Highway 101.
Around 6:30 pm. that night, the victim was walking over Highway 101 when she was approached by a man who attempted to talk with the victim, then sexually assaulted her before running west on Third Avenue, according to police.
The victim said the suspect was possibly a mixed-race male wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. The suspect spoke to the victim in English and said his name was “Eric.” Officers immediately searched the area, but the suspect was not found, according to police. He is around 25 with a light complexion, 5 feet 6 inches, 140 to 150 pounds, short dark curly hair, dark brown eyes, thin dark mustache and freckles around nose and under eyes.
