Deputies with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 56-year-old Oakland man Sunday night on multiple charges following a road rage incident in Montara during which the suspect reportedly pointed a firearm at another driver.
On Sunday, June 14, at around 8:30 p.m., deputies were dispatched to Highway 1 and Second Avenue in Montara following reports of a road rage incident. During the incident, the suspect reportedly pointed a firearm at the victim, was speeding and driving erratically, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect fled, but witnesses were able to provide a description and he was tracked with a license plate reader. A short time later, the suspect, Leonard Jenkins, 56, of Oakland, was located on the 100 block of Beach Way in Moss Beach. Jenkins is prohibited from possessing firearms and was taken into custody without incident.
During the investigation, deputies located separate baggies containing substances believed to be cocaine and methamphetamine, along with a semiautomatic firearm, ammunition, illegal fireworks and a false registration tab, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
