ARCATA -- Taking a cue from Bridgeville, the small Northern California town sold on the Internet auction block, the real estate firm trying to sell the Arcata Theater is putting it on eBay.
"We got the idea when we saw Bridgeville on there," said Bob Morse of Bindel Realty.
The theater's auction closes on March 7. Two bids have been received, but the reserve price of $200,000 has not been met.
Morse said the reserve price for the theater is somewhere between $455,000 and the current listing price of $485,000. By setting a reserve price the seller is not required to sell the item to the highest bidder.
Hundreds of properties have been sold on eBay -- including Bridgeville, which attracted worldwide attention when its winning bid was about $1 million more than the minimum opening bid price of $770,000.<
