Jesus Magallanes
Jesus Magallanes will be South San Francisco’s next fire chief, after being tapped by City Manager Mike Futrell to replace former chief Gerry Kohlmann, who announced his retirement earlier this year.
As member of the city’s fire department for 21 years, Magallanes worked his way through the ranks from firefighter to interim chief in the wake of Kohlmann’s announcement in January.
Magallanes expressed his appreciation for the opportunity.
“South San Francisco is a dynamic city with a top notch fire department capable of responding to any emergency which may arise,” he said in a prepared statement. “I am humbled and excited to lead what I know to be one the best fire departments in the Bay Area.”
