Sparked by Councilwoman Linda Larson's hesitation of allowing freeway signs on or near Millbrae Avenue, the City Council Tuesday night voted 3-2 to reconsider the signs approved Oct. 12.
"I feel that the issue is very important and that we didn't have a chance to focus on it," Larson said in a phone interview Tuesday.
Previous news reports saying her hesitation was owed to a fear of X-rated signs in Millbrae were overblown, she said.
"We can't foresee the future but the reason for the ordinances was to project a vision for the area," she said, adding that the council deserved a solid briefing on it derived from Planning Commission documents.
The council is reconsidering freeway sign use on 13 lots from Highway 101 to the west side of El Camino Real near Adrian Road.
The matter will be brought back to City Council Dec. 14.
