Police arrested a 21-year-old Los Angeles man after finding stolen property in his vehicle in San Bruno on Monday night, then stopped him as he made an ill-fated attempt to escape from the police vehicle while in handcuffs.
An officer contacted Dajon Marshall at 8:08 p.m. in a parked car in the parking lot of the J.C. Penney store at 1122 El Camino Real and eventually learned he had a warrant issued for his arrest, police said.
Police also found he was in possession of about $1,200 worth of stolen merchandise from a Victoria’s Secret store.
After arresting Marshall, he allegedly kicked the door of a patrol car with both legs, hitting a police officer and causing him to lose his balance, according to police.
Marshall got out of the patrol car and tried to escape in handcuffs, but officers were able to contain him after a brief struggle and took him into custody again, police said.
He was booked into San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of the arrest warrant along with possession of stolen property, escape by force, battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.
