San Mateo County deputies found the body of an adult male and gun in a parking lot next to the Half Moon Bay substation after responding to the sound of a single gunshot at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Paramedics also responded immediately to the area, but were unable to revive the victim, who suffered a gunshot wound, said San Mateo County Sheriff’s Detective Rosemerry Blankswade.
The official cause of death is still under investigation.
This is the third shooting in Half Moon Bay in the last month, but Blankswade said it’s being investigated as an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.
On Feb. 14, sheriff’s deputies at Gray Whale Cove located the dead body of Gilberto Martin Jr. Rodriguez, 53, who had suffered gun shot wounds and other traumatic injuries. His death is being investigated as a homicide. And on Feb. 22, an adult woman who had been shot once in the head was found on Poplar Avenue, and was last reported to be in critical condition. It’s still unknown if the gunshot wound was self-inflicted or not.
