The 47-year-old Redwood City man charged with raping and impregnating his girlfriend's teenage daughter declined to enter a plea yesterday to three felonies.
Miguel Campos Salazar is charged with forcible rape, committing a lewd act on a child under 14 and committing an act of unlawful sexual intercourse. He is also facing the special allegation of inflicting great bodily injury because of the pregnancy. If convicted of all charges, Salazar faces 11 years in prison.
This was Salazar's third appearance in court since his arrest. He delayed a plea twice before because he was having trouble retaining his own defense attorney. The latest postponement came after attorney Michael Mengarelli said he had not even received the police reports yet. The matter was put over until Oct. 21.
Salazar, mustached and with disheveled hair, wore a red jumpsuit symbolizing him as high-risk or in need of protective custody.
Salazar was arrested Oct. 4, just days after the 13-year-old girl gave birth to a baby girl. The girl had not told anybody Salazar allegedly attacked her earlier this year but admitted the incident after going into labor Oct. 2. She told doctors she did not know she was 30 weeks pregnant.

DNA tests will confirm the baby's paternity but prosecutors assume it to be Salazar.
He remains in custody in lieu of $500,000.
