Samaritan House, a San Mateo County charity which provides services to low-income county residents, honored volunteers and generous donors Friday with a Polynesian dinner in Foster City.
Spokeswoman Tanya Ahern said the dinner acknowledged more than 3,000 people and organizations who volunteered with Samaritan House in 2000.
Mills Peninsula Health Care Services received the night's highest honor, the Kelly Award, which is named after Samaritan House's community leader John Kelly. The health care organization contributed more than $600,000 in medical services at a free clinic last year, allowing more than 500 uninsured patients to be assisted each month.
Other groups recognized include the Asian Senior Club, the Foster City School District, the Unitarian Universalists Church, San Mateo Firefighters, San Mateo High School and local volunteer doctors. Ahern estimated that Samaritan House helped around 15,000 people
