Accused pimp slapped with trial
A 24-year-old auto parts store worker accused of pimping out his coworker on Craigslist will stand trial on one felony.
A judge held Nicholas Geranios to answer on one felony count of pimping after a preliminary hearing with three witnesses, including the co-worker. He returns to court Jan. 25 to enter a Superior Court plea and set a trial date.
Redwood City police arrested Geranios Nov. 3 after responding to a Craigslist and allegedly arranging a sex act for $250 at a local motel. The woman, according to police, pointed out Geranios as her pimp and explained that he convinced her to act as his prostitute.
An examination of Geranios' cell phone turned up videos in which he speaks of his love for pimping and a photo of a woman labeled "LoveDisPimping," police reported. Police also reported Geranios rented the Redwood City motel room for the prostitute and had a box of 20 condoms in his possession when arrested.
Geranios remains in custody in lieu of $100,000 bail.
Alleged CPS threatener pleads not guilty
A San Carlos woman accused of threatening two Child Protective Services workers investigating child abuse claims that later proved unsubstantiated pleaded not guilty to two felonies and was ordered to trial next month.
Wendy Cheung, 48, is charged with two felony counts of making criminal threats. On Thursday, Dec. 13, according to the District Attorney's Office, Cheung threatened two CPS employees investigating allegations of child abuse by another person in the household. The workers later determined the claim was unsubstantiated.
Cheung has a lengthy history of mental health contact, according to prosecutors, but court records show no prior criminal convictions in San Mateo County.

All Bay Area residents get power back
All Bay Area residents had their power restored by Friday morning after about 1.1 million customers in the region lost electricity during last week's storm, according to Pacific Gas and Electric Co. spokesman David Eisenhauer.
The storm's rain and high winds knocked out power for PG&E customers throughout the Bay Area last Friday. Most got power back that day, but thousands remained in the dark for days.
By Thursday, there were still 150 customers waiting to have service restored. All local customers should have power, Eisenhauer said, but anyone still without should call (800) PGE-5002.
Room at medical center named for late doctor
An examination room in the San Mateo Medical Center will be named in honor of the late Dr. Rodney Kirk, according to the San Mateo County Health Foundation.
Kirk, who passed away in December, was the chief of staff and chief of otolaryngology at the medical center. He was also on the board of directors for the foundation.
A donation of $25,000 will be given to the clinic as a tribute to the late doctor, and to be used to name an examination room in his honor.
According to the foundation, the room will be located in the Ron Robinson Senior Care Center, which offers a comprehensive treatment facility to elderly patients.
