· The San Mateo Planning Commission will hold a special field trip to the Bay Meadows Phase I at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Commissioners will tour the existing Bay Meadows development and review its buildings, streets, parks and other improvements prior to public hearings on the redevelopment of the existing Bay Meadows race track. No decisions will be made during the trip.
· The San Mateo Parks and Recreation Commission will discuss operational problems at the new Shoreline Parks, which opened two weeks ago. Since the parks are an overwhelming success, the city might have to hire more staff to oversee the crowds and enforce the rules. The commission will meet 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in conference room C at City Hall, 330 W. 20th Ave.
State government
· A bill by state Sen. Jackie Speier, D-San Mateo, protecting consumers' personal data from being bought and sold by data brokers will be heard July 5 in the Assembly Judiciary Committee.
Senate Bill 550 would require data brokers to have a secure and dependable client authentication process and give consumers access to all the information about them held by the company.
