And bid they did. By the time San Bruno Mayor Larry Franzella finished his stint as auctioneer, $30,000 was raised for local nonprofits Samaritan House and HIP Housing.
Samaritan House is a health and human services agency which provides low-income residents in San Mateo County with clothing, medical care, food, shelter, employment assistance, and food and toys for the holidays. HIP (Human Investment Project) Housing creates permanent housing solutions for over 1,000 persons in San Mateo County every year and assists an additional 1,500 with housing resources, including the Housing Home Sharing Program, which links people who have housing to share with those seeking a place to live. Sponsors of the benefit were IndyMac Bank, The Michael Haigh Team (CitiMortgage) and Mary Jo Lafaye, Reverse Mortgages, Wells Fargo, Countrywide Home Loans, LandAmerica Commonwealth and Old Republic Title. SAMCAR is a professional trade association that organizes Realtors and affiliates on the Peninsula. SAMCAR is located at 850 Woodside Way, San Mateo.
