Students and teachers participating in City Arts of San Mateo’s ninth annual High School Arts Recognition Program will be honored at a reception beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 19 in the Oak Room at San Mateo Public Library, 55 W. Third Ave., San Mateo. The program was open to students of Aragon, Hillsdale and San Mateo high schools. Two $500 grand prize awards, one for visual arts and one for literary arts, will be presented in an awards ceremony beginning at 2:30 p.m. Also, first place prizes of $200 will be awarded in five categories (2-Dimensional visual arts, 3-Dimensional visual arts, photography, poetry and prose) to winning student entrants. Other special awards are honorable mention certificates. The program is presented by nonprofit City Arts of San Mateo to inspire, encourage and acknowledge the creativity and talent of our high school students.
